Cliche after Boring Cliche with Bonus Stereotypes
Hunter in woods places accurate shot near a wolf to save him. Hunter has awkward fight with stereotypical drunk city types claiming the wolf is theirs. "I bet the kid in Walmart who sold you this rifle told you..." etc.... Hunter returns home to model wife whith white shirt billowing in breeze and perfect hair and make up. Adorable daughter says grace at table. Mysterious comrade from Hunter's army past turns up and says, "I'm afraid we're about to have one of those conversations we never had" etc... The President needs you on this one. "I've put the past behind me, I'm done with all that". FBI and Homeland teams turn up at a Spa to arrest a dodgy looking Russian who mumbles, "Diamonds Are Forever" for no apparent reason. FBI and Homeland have jurisdictional battle. "At least let me talk to the guy before you make him disappear". And on and on and on and on and on.
Goodness me, don't they realise we're all tired of this crap? Executive produced by the lead, extremely boring uncharismatic actor, Ryan Philppe, and also exec produced by Marc Wahlberg who probably knew it would be crap but very wisely opted for a piece of the pie in case in made a little bit of money which it probably will because of idiots like me who knew it looked like crap but bought the first episode in the vain hope (again) that they might have tried something different this time.
This is the same crap done crappily all over again.
This is one of the worst things I've seen. The writing is so bad-- packed with the most embarrassingly over-used cliches. Especially in this platinum age of television, it's hard to imagine anyone would buy this-- some of the worst, feeble minded, one dimensional, propoganda-ridden and pathetic attempts at drama I've ever had the displeasure of sitting through.
If you liked the movie of the same name, then you will likely not like the series. The main character may have the same name, and be a sniper but thats about all they have in common. In the movie Bob Lee Swagger is a great character. In this TV Show he just does not come off as anything but Muh.
Rathre than using the movie as basis for the series like one normally would do when using character names from that movie they did a remake of the movie for the first episode which made the characteras completely different. When it first started and he was married I was like, "Cool its starting a few years later" but no, its just a completely different back story that basically ignores the movie but uses the names of characters from the movie Shooter.
If you have not seen the movie, its a fun action film. This however became rather boaring very quickly as he started to tell his wife the character backstory. I only made it half way through so it may get batter as it develops but the first episode, as far as I saw, was a poor remake of a good movie, rather than something that built on the movie and continued the story built up there.
