Best Ink, Season 2HDTV-14

Open iTunes to preview or buy TV shows.

Returning for its second season, "Best Ink" is a competition reality series that lays bare the cutthroat and wildly unpredictable world of tattoo artistry. Tattooists are on the cutting edge of an ever-growing phenomenon: permanent body art. With nothing but their needles, ink, and passion, 12 respected tattoo artists from across the country compete for $100,000 and a cover feature in Tattoo magazine. Each artist produces bona fide masterpieces on skin -- a permanence rarely seen in the reality competition world. The indelible body art will be created for, and on, real people in a variety of challenges designed to showcase the artists' talents. The contestants are guided through the competition by musician and tattoo enthusiast, Pete Wentz, who is the new host this season. World-renowned tattoo artist, Joe Capobianco, returns as the head judge and mentor, alongside international pinup model and tattoo shop owner, Sabina Kelley, and distinguished pin up and portrait tattoo specialist, Hannah Aitchison. After each challenge, the judges will critique the artists' work to find the most skilled tattooist. The drama doesn’t stop there -- with the competitors sharing common "free time" space, sparks will fly, and egos will clash. As the stakes get higher and the challenges become more difficult, only one artist will get the ultimate bragging rights to call their work "Best Ink."

Great competition

I love any almost any kind of reality game show that features really talented people. I personally love and have a bunch of tattoos, so this is really up my alley. Of course, the other popular tattoo game show is Ink Master. I think Best Ink is better. You get to know more about the skins (clients) and their stories behind their tattoos, and you get to see the contestants have a connection with their clients. The thing that I think puts Best Ink over the top is that it is focused more on tattooing and less on reality drama between the contestants. Everyone gets along with each other, and the rivalries are friendly. I also think the judges are better in this show, and it is nice that they have female as well as male judges. They don't have five challenges that incude naked or scantily clad women with big t*ts in stripper heels like the other show. Don't get me wrong, I like Ink Master a lot, but this one is more family-friendly. There are definfitely a good amount of bleeped words, but not contestants yelling and calling each other an f-ing mother f-er. F F F. Here is the one thing I HATE about this, and it doesn't really have to do with the show. There are "Redemption Rounds," where the tattooer who was eliminated goes up against another eliminated contestant head-to-head. Frigging Apple, or whoever decided on the thumbnails for the Redemption Rounds actually shows the faces of the contestants vying for redemption. Therefore, before you even watch the show, you know who gets eliminated, because you can see they are competing in the Redemption Round! Really brilliant, jack*sses. All in all, I think it's solid and if you like reality competition shows, you should check this one out.
