NCIS: Los Angeles is a drama about the high-stakes world of the Office of Special Projects (OSP), a division of NCIS that is charged with apprehending dangerous and elusive criminals that pose a threat to the nation's security. By assuming false identities and utilizing the most advanced technology, this team of highly-trained agents goes deep undercover, putting their lives on the line in the field to bring down their targets. Special Agent "G" Callen is a chameleon who transforms himself into whomever he needs to be to infiltrate the criminal underworld. His partner is Special Agent Sam Hanna, a former U.S. Navy SEAL who has seen action in both Afghanistan and Iraq, and a surveillance expert who uses state of the art monitoring equipment to look out for those in the field and feed them crucial information. Assisting the team is Special Agent Kensi Blye, the exceptionally bright daughter of a slain Marine who lives for the adrenalin rush that comes with undercover work; Operational Psychologist Nate Getz, adept at getting into anybody's head, profiling the target and monitoring agents' states of mind before, during and after missions; Dominic Vail, the most recent addition to the team, is highly qualified but lacking in practical experience; and Henrietta "Hetty" Lange, who oversees the "backroom" support staff tasked with providing everything from micro-surveillance cameras to cars for the team. Armed with the latest in high-tech gear and sent regularly into life-threatening situations, this tight-knit unit relies on each other to do what is necessary to protect national interests.

This version of NCIS will be remembered as every bit as good as the original NCIS. The pilot at the end of last years NCIS was an excellent show. The first episode of NCIS Los Angeles was great. Give this show a look and I know if your an NCIS fan you will enjoy this show as well. I, for one, am looking forward to both shows this season.
At first, I was concerned that a spinoff would just turn NCIS into another out of control CSI fiasco, however considering that NCIS itself was a spinoff, I'm willing to give this one a little time to grow. Once the characters get comfortable with their roles (and with using their equipment), it may actually turn out to be a decent show...
This is a fairly good show. We have to remember a few things:
1. this is not NCIS, it is a different group doing things differently than the original NCIS. I think they have done a good job of establishing their own identity, the last thing anyone really wants to watch is people attempting to be Jethro, tony, or ziva... having their own personality and mannerisms is important.
2. Not everyone is going to like this. I think the show will do well and will attract its own crowd and many investigative junkie will like both, but i think the bulk of their viewers will favor one over the other, but will watch both b/c of their appearence right after one another.
3. Give it The Season... the writers need time to establish each character's mannerisms and personality, looking back at the beginning seasons of NCIS isn't nearly as exciting as watching the ones nowadays... it takes time, but its also only fair to demand the writers make something happen quickly to keep our attention, its a give and take.
4. Also remember the regional difference... NCIS is out of Washington DC and NCIS is over on the very different West Cost of LA... that in its self makes for very different types of people and even a different world view of the characters.
All in all, the story line is doing well, i like that they don't go out and announce they are NCIS, i don't mind that NCIS does this, but i'm glad there's that level of difference between the two shows. The characters are not fully developed, so i can't say much. I look forward to the rest of the episodes and can't wait to see how this family really operates.
