In the near-future, vampires have come out of the coffin . . . no longer in need of a human fix. But can a young Louisiana waitress (Anna Paquin) forge a love match with a bloodsucker? HBO presents this drama series created by Alan Ball (Six Feet Under) and based on the best-selling "Sookie Stackhouse" novels by Charlaine Harris.
|1||HDClosed CaptioningVideoStrange Love||Across the country, vampires have come 'out of the coffin' after the invention of mass-produced synthetic blood. In Louisiana, Sookie Stackhouse, a waitress with telepathic abilities, falls under the spell of a sexy, 173-year-old vampire named Bill Compton--whose thoughts she can't read. After saving Bill from the Rattrays, a pair of ruthless 'vampire drainers,' Sookie tests the limits of Bill's gratitude when the two are left alone in the dark. Meanwhile, Sookie's best friend Tara quits one job to work for Sam Merlotte at his bar and grill, and Sookie's roguish brother Jason finds himself in hot water when a 'fangbanger,' whom he's been intimate with meets a tragic end.||58:34||$2.99||View in iTunes|

They end up at Bill's dilapidated antebellum estate, where Bill fights off his primal vampire urges for the acquiescent Sookie. Later, Bill demonstrates his own considerable powers when an abusive patrolman stops the couple on their way home.||50:16||$2.99||View in iTunes|

iTunes Pricing a Joke
I love this show and wanted to download the entire season, but I am not going to pay $2.99 a show for the standard version. What a Joke. Good luck Apple. Perhaps they should learn to fleece the sheep, not skin it.
Eric the Vampire
I've read all of the Sookie Stackhouse books including the latest edition and I loved them all. I think Alan Ball did an amazing job bringing the novels to HBO. There were major differences in the book and the show but I think those changes made the show better paced. I was skeptical when I saw the trailers at first. I thought Stephen Moyer as Bill looked a little to old and Anna Paquin wasn't the right person for Sookie but boy was I wrong. They are perfect in their roles and they have great and believable chemistry. But the one character that I was curious to see was the 1,000 year old viking vampire Eric Northman. Alexander Skarsgard (Generation Kill) was PERFECT for this role. I love him on this show. He steals every scene that he's in. He is the reason that I watched very episode last season and will watch every episode this season.
Perfect Antidote to Twilight Fever
For those of you sick of Twilight's reign on vampire lore (or those of you who have been bitten by the vampire bug), True Blood may be the show for you. Both the show and the book series it was based on is a refreshing, action-packed, and sexy one-two punch. It combines the TV genius of Alan Ball (Six Feet Under), the steamy and dangerous love affair between a 173-year-old vampire and a telepathic waitress, and the tendency of the down-home Louisiana town of Bon Temps to attract the mythological. Season 1 deals with a serial killer targeting the women around Sookie Stackhouse, local mind-reader and waitress at Merlotte's Bar and Grill. Vampires have recently "come out of the coffin" as they joke, enabled by the manmade synthetic blood, TrueBlood. The legendary creatures may have gained America's tolerance, but is the killer a vigilante who believes they shouldn't be walking among the living? Or is it someone very close to Sookie herself?
