Return to Cranford: A bit of a let down
Sadly, this extension of the wonderful "Cranford" mini-series does not live up to the original. It has its moments--perhaps enough that edited down might have made one very good episode. Instead, we are left with three so-so episodes. Still, fans of the original will probably enjoy seeing some of their favorite characters and scenes.
Not quite a return to Cranford
The Cranford sequel doesn't measure up to the original, but few series do. You'll still be moved by the pain and joy, loss and renewal experienced by it's residence. Judi Dench's Ms. Maddie is played to perfection, and the other returning cast get a chance to showcase their considerable talents. If the script was right, I'd love to see Cranford visited again! My four star rating is based not on a comparison with the original, but with other series of this kind. The original is in a class by itself.
great as the first season (Cranford)
it's too bad there are no more shows like this one
