I don't believe it
It's too contrived. It's like in a horror show, you say to the character, "Don't go into the basement!" Or in a thriller, "Why doesn't she just call the police?" In this show, rather than trying to find her kidnapped child, she lies to the police to conceal her cocaine use and protect her dealer. Come on. Who would do that? A stupid, contrived way to advance the plot. And of course we all know the detective will get to the truth anyway. Many examples. Lazy writing.
