A Brilliant, Shocking, Heartbreaking Masterpiece
Fans of Torchwood Seasons 1 & 2 will not recognize this explosive, gutwrenching third season. Gone is the camp, the sexiness, and monster-of-the-week feel of Torchwood. However, this new five installment story "Children of Earth" is possibly the most compelling piece of televsion to come out of the UK or Hollywood. John Barrowman gives his best performance yet as the enigmatic Captain Jack Harkness as a man who's dark past has finally caught up with him. Eve Myles(Gwen) and Kai Owen (Rhys) efficiently help drive the narrative. Gareth David-Lloyd's portrayal of Ianto is stellar and it will break your heart.
Torchwood is amazing
I've watched all the episodes for this season and it is brilliant. The season is controversial, puting the government in a very bad light, but is done beautifully even if it can seem a little graphic at times. The show really makes you think about what you would do if you were put in their position. I'm so sad that this season is only 5 episodes and I can't wait for the next season, if there is one.
Best TV this year!
I saw this last week when it aired in the UK and it blew me away. I am a huge Torchwood fan, but even beside that it is just pure, great, television. A very unsettling premise and incredible acting - the fourth and fifth hours are gut-wrenching and very realistic. Will be nominated for an Emmy and if should win for best mini-series. Excellent on all levels - I've seen it and still plan to download it when it is available in the U.S.
