No one is more excited than I to have these available but:

HD is actually an industry term. It actually means something. Apple can not just call things HD because they are higher def than their pitifully low feeds, then provide 480p (no better than progressive scan DVD) but with no 5.1 audio). LAME. Have us pay more while still getting us less. LAME

More than just TV or the usual mediocre SciFi

Great Scifi is more than just escapist fantasy. SciFi at its best is an evaluation of humanity within a given set of parameters and conditions. It is the present being seen from a constructed stage. BSG is a masterful example of this. BSG allows us to look deeply our own human predicament and evaluate ourselves from a perspective that we cannot see from pure realism. BSG is less SciFi and more "human condition" reality. More real than "reality TV" and more future than any SciFi could possibly muster. BSG holds true to the maxim, "if you want to chart the future look to the past" or "if you want to know where you are going look to where you have been." BSG is a measure of our basic human qualities placing them within a universe that allows us a close and deeply personal glimpse of what our future could hold without the fantasy and magical whimsey that too much SciFi holds out for us. The characters in BSG are drawn with subtle complexity. There are few black and white motivations. Even the most despicable has a reason for their duplicity. If you are interested in SciFi as a stereotyped genre then BSG might not appeal to you. If, however, you are fascinated with the complex evolution of human choices and development then BSG might appeal in the same way that Macbeth or Hamlet has continued to haunt us for half a millenium. Not so much for its continuation of an ideal but for its self revelations to those who watch. BSG will not stand for its innovations about humanities future, but will be watched again and again for generations due to its expediant and relevant way of dispatching our all too common foibles during the present. As excapist dribble BSG will disappoint, as relevant dialogue BSG will thrill and perhaps even motivate.

Awesome in HD

First of all thanks for bringing all of the NBC shows back, they were sorely missed! This is one of the best shows on television! I bought all of the available HD episodes and they look great on my 30" Cinema display. The HD version of the show synchronized to Apple TV and look great on my big screen television. It is a cool feature to include the SD version as well because I may also want to sync to my iPod or just have them on my laptop.
