Deadliest Catch takes viewers deep into the Bering Sea with seven crab fishing vessels and their crews through two of the toughest fishing seasons in the world: Red King Crab and Opilio Crab. King Crab season kicks off in October. The fleet will push hundreds of miles out to sea and fish four hundred feet deep in search of the prized crustaceans. The captains will strategize, and the crews will be pushed to their limits of mental and physical endurance as they repeatedly drop and haul 700-pound crab pots. After a much needed respite, the crews will changeover their fishing gear and head back out into the ice filled northern waters of the Bering Sea, home of the Opilio crab. Fishing for Opilio crab in January is the ultimate adventure for Alaskan fisherman. The temperatures are colder, the seas are rougher, and the fishing is even more dangerous, ask any fisherman and he'll tell you it's just a matter of time before the Bering Sea claims its next victim.
