Outstanding fantasy drama - unlike anything else on TV. It's shot (and looks) like a feature film, taking full advantage of the exotic, cinematic locations. Fans of Baum's Oz books will delight in the familiarity and recognition of characters and nods to the classic series; but the story and characters divert from his vision, ultimately weaving a new tale of science (our world) versus magic (Oz). It is an edgy, Medieval/renaissance take on the story - for a new generation. Each episode ends with a suspenseful cliffhanger and you'll wish to binge it all at once.

Tarsem is always the best

Darkness masquerading as fantasy

As others have noted ... this is dark. I remember the first time I watched a 90s drama and noticed that there were no heros, only ANTI-heros. No morality, only one evil person LESS evil than another — who suddenly becomes the new hero — like morailty graded on a curve?

I did not wait for the 'gender confusion' episode. When I saw the writes depicting OZ as some 21st century Gomorrah (in period dress) I knew this was headed for the trashcan.

Who funds such rubbish anyway?

This is NOT the OZ we grew up with. As dark as the movie "Return to OZ" was in the 1990s, this one is simply debauchery attached to an established brand name, sold to the degenerate. I cannot and WILL NOT support bad writing, poor acting and decandency, wrapped in a good looking veneer of filmic videography, as entertainment. NBC has hit a new low with this one! What's the opposite of inspiring?
