A daring diamond heist in the south of France bears the hallmarks of the supposedly retired “Pink Panthers,” a gang famed for their bold daylight raids and movie-style getaways. It seems like the perfect crime—until a young girl is killed in their escape. This sets a British insurance-loss adjuster (Oscar® nominee Samantha Morton, In America), a former MI-6 officer (Oscar® nominee John Hurt, The Elephant Man), a French-Algerian cop (Tahar Rahim, Day of the Falcon), and a Serbian soldier-turned-thief (Goran Bogdan, Number 55) on a dangerous collision course across Europe. What starts with diamonds leads to guns, drugs, high finance, and corruption at the heights of power. Shot in seven countries and five languages, this ""thrilling reinvention of the heist drama"" (The Independent, UK) was inspired by the real-life Pink Panthers, who terrorized Europe’s jewelers for a decade. Directed by Johan Renck (Breaking Bad), it features the theme music “Blackstar,” written and performed by David Bowie especially for the series.

terrible camera work
Chase scenes are the worst cause the footage bounces along and falls out of focus. After awhile it became annoying.
Adult, intriguing foreign drama
There’s so much to appreciate in this international heist film that takes place in Marseille and Belgrade & involves a diverse European cast. At its core, it’s a heist film that focuses on some diamond thieves who are relentlessly tracked by both police and insurance investigators,. But it’s also about tough lives and tough people and how those without desperately try to claw their way up and out of this swamp of poor anonymous souls. Most of the action takes place in areas of Europe tourists never see—gritty, neglected, impoverished—ruled by thugs who have no mercy and populated by people who are always known by the police and entered into databases. This is not a Hollywood production. It’s not The Thomas Crown affair. It’s not Heat. In fact, I can’t think of any American made series or film to compare it to. But it is absolutely fascinating, well written and superbly acted.
A must see ! Characters so real
The other side of the stories. ...its like reading a good book .
