I saw a cowboy take the skinned hide from the mother cow that didn't make it and very carefully sewed it around the new adopting mother. They then did all the things you'all do.
So maybe the calf would have made it anyway, but have you heard of this or had to use it?
After raising both small and larger herds over 25 years, I am amazed at how good your herd looks after winter. What do you do, blanket them every night? Bring them in the house?
