Tommy (David Schwimmer) and Dion (Jim Sturgess)are like brothers. With all the love - and all the complications - that comes with it. Dion can't stay out of trouble. Tommy can't move past it. For two friends on the brink of losing everything, a dusty pipe dream of opening an upscale restaurant in their hometown of the Bronx is all they have left to turn their lives around.

Cliche and stereotypical

Horrible pilot episode. I think every possible "drama' cliché is present. All characters play comic book stereotypes of themselves. It's liek screenwriting 101 class. And the multiple music montagages to watch chopping, cutting, frying, plating are just plain silly. Is AMC thinking they are creating a compelling drama? Cooking was boring, so they apparently threw int eh "mob boss" chasing the "ex-con" to hopwfully add somthing compelling. But then it may have just been boring without likable characters. So, they throw in teh guy who's lost his wife unexpectedly to possibly try and pull emotional strings... but Schwimmer's sad puppydog eyes weren't enough.. .So, in comes the traumatized child that "hasn't spoke since his montehr died" I mean really. Does AMC honestly thing the general viewing public this pathetic and dumb???

Hit its stride in episode 5

I liked the first episodes, but felt more of an emotional connection by the fifth episode. TJ is great, and Schwimmer is a downer as a depressed dad, which is the point. I love the grit and accents of the Bronx.
