Description

Alchemy is the art of taking matter and forming it into something else. Brothers Edward and Alphonse Elric are naturals for this art. One of the principal concepts of alchemy is the Law of Equivalent Exchange. This law simply states that in order to gain something, you have to give up something of equal value. But with this law come two taboos of alchemy: turning objects into gold and human transmutation. Not even the Elric brothers and their great talents are immune to the consequences of breaking these rules. On one fateful night, Edward loses an arm and a leg, and Alphonse loses his entire body in an alchemy experiment gone awry. From this point, Edward's only concern is finding a way to return his brother to his body. He soon finds himself in the service of the government as a State Alchemist. State Alchemists perform alchemy at the government’s bidding by using special devices that allow them to harness the power of alchemy, even if it means destroying lives — something Edward will avoid at all costs. But Edward Elric, the Fullmetal Alchemist, is able to perform the craft without the use of an array, something that makes him special. It is here the amazing story of the youngest State Alchemist in history begins.

Possibly The Greatest Show EVER!!!

FMA is GOD. Put YES If You Want More Anime Like COWBOY BEBOP!!!

I can't believe the FINALLY put Fullmetal Alchemist up here!

I love Fullmetal Alchemist. I discoveed it thorugh my library. I'm so impresseed that Funimation uploaded the show to iTunes, considering how huge it is over here in the States. Anyway, onto the story. Edward and Alphonse Elric travel Amestris searching for the fabled Philosopher's Stone to find a way to restore their bodies after the failed human transmutation of their mother. It's a beautiful series with a deep, engaging, emotional plot that rivals any live-action TV series. The voice acting is spot on with one of the finest casts assembled for an anime. Vic Mignogna, who scored his big breakout role as Edward Elric brings life and emotion to the cynical, loudmouthded, fun-sized (short joke) Edward Elric. Aaron Dismuke provides a sweet, endearing voice for the younger brother Alphonse, to hear his voice coming from the large suit of armor makes your heart go out to him. Catlin Glass plays the tough as nails, yet wonderfully joyful Winry Rockbell, Ed's automail mechanic who constantly fixes Ed's prostetc limbs. Travis Willingham is the arrogant, yet good hearted and sarcastic Roy Mustang. Colleen Clinkenbeard plays the stoic, no nonsense Lieutenant Hawkeye, Mustang’s subordinate. Sonny Straight is the lovable, goofy, yet turn-on-dime serious Maes Hughes, just try not to laugh at the screen as he brags about his little baby daughter will shoving a picture into another character’s face. The Elric Brother’s are pursued by the mysterious humuunculi, played by Laura Baily as Lust and Wendy Powel as Envy, and Chris Cason as Gluttony. The search for the Philosopher’s Stone reveals many secrets even as a vindictive serial killer named Scar, played by Dameon Clarke targeting State Alchemists named scare hunts the brothers. Not a show to miss and the final episode of this season will make you cry. This is one of the best animes I’ve ever seen and is my personal favorite. Definitely a good one to watch while on a road trip!

About Time

Dang, it took so long for Itunes to add FMA. This is a spectacular anime that dwells on the plausibility of alchemy's dominance over science. Although that may be the case, the lead characters are the real deal in this anime. Ed and Alphonse are charming characters, and the supporting characters with their own personalities makes the leads shine even more. It has both action and a deep plot that can cater to a wide variety of audience. IMHO, FMA is more than an anime, it is an experience.
