Being human: nobody ever said it was easy. But for three twenty-something roommates – who happen to be a vampire, a werewolf, and a ghost – is it even possible? By turns frightening, witty, and romantic, Being Human explores what it means to be human through the eyes of these outsiders. Aidan was a Revolutionary War soldier who sacrificed himself to vampires to spare his men. Now, some 260 years later, he is still struggling to escape the orbit of his powerful mentor, Bishop. Josh was a promising medical student forced to abandon his family and future after a werewolf attack left him cursed. And Sally, happily engaged before her tragic death, must now figure out how to move on as a ghost. As Aidan, Josh and Sally learn that there are fates worse than death, they also realize that there’s more to life – and the afterlife – than most “normal” humans could ever imagine.

Nice suprise

Hearing that my two favorite British shows, Skins and Being Human, were being Americanized and premiering on the same night, this past Monday had me worried, and while Skins turned out to be a sad facsimile of a great UK show, Being Human was surpisingly witty, fun, and original. A new script, new characters, and slightly altered plots almost made me forget that I was watching a remake and not a totally new show. Congrats, Syfy, on fantastically adapting the British hit.

Really good

Wow! The first episode was really good. Don't write this off as "just another vampire show" like I almost did. I've haven't seen the British version so I can't compare. What I do know is that it grabs your attention right from the start and the vampire character is VERY easy on the eyes ; )

Not bad for an American remake of a British show.

Speaking as a fan of the British verison of Being Human, I was a little leery about this American remake. But after one episode, it has potential. I've noticed quite a few differences between the two series that make me think the writers for this verison are trying to make sure it isn't a complete carbon copy of the British one. Oh and I'm not counting the difference in the main character's names. It should be interesting to see where they take the show. Stylistically I do like the American version a little better so far.
