Five hundred years in the future there's a whole new frontier, and the crew of the Firefly-class spaceship, Serenity, is eager to stake a claim on the action. They'll take any job, legal or illegal, to keep fuel in the tanks and food on the table. But things get a bit more complicated after they take on a passenger wanted by the new totalitarian Alliance regime. Now they find themselves on the run, desperate to steer clear of Alliance ships and the flesh-eating Reavers who live on the fringes of space.

"You can't take the sky from me."
T'was a time, no one knew 'bout this little corner of the 'verse. Then appeared a man by the name of Joss Whedon to spin its tales. Alas, after only twelve of these fourteen fine episodes were aired on Fox, the show was cancelled. But thanks to it's rebirth on DVD, and the few loyal Browncoats from the Fox days who urged all of their friends to buy and watch it, it was given a second chance at life as they all told their friends and so on and so forth. It was then that I too, became a Browncoat. In my opinion, this is the best goram TV show ever. I cannnot say enough good things about it and am glad Apple, by way of iTunes, finally decided to make the show available over the cortex. At $1.99 an episode, it's certainly worth a look. Also, the first episode "Serenity", is actually a two parter, so at $1.99, you are getting two for the price of one. Two important things to know about the show: 1. Yes, it is sci-fi. But that's only because the show takes place aboard a space ship. It is much more a story about characters and how they relate to each other and struggle to live, love and earn their keep than it is about phasers and warp speed. Don't let the sci-fi lable scare you off... 2. Don't judge the whole series by the first ten munites of "Serenity", the series premier. Those first ten munites are full of a lot of sci-fi action, space ships and battleground fighting. That is background story to help give a better understanding of some of the main characters. It is not what you should expect out of the rest of the series except for ocassional flashback sequences. As I stated before, this is as much a drama as anything, with incredible character driven stories. There's also quite a bit of humor thrown in; and some moments are absoultely hilarious. On behalf of Browncoats everywhere, I urge you to give this show a chance. Who knows? Maybe someday, we can visit the crappy town where I'm the hero...
The best ever... I mean it... Watch it. Now.
This is the best SF series ever (yes even better than Battlestar Galactica). Full of heart and soul, you will fall in love with these characters and yearn for more. After this you can go watch the movie which sorta concludes the saga... for now :) The order iTunes is listing the series is wrong. The correct order is: 1. "Serenity" 2. "The Train Job" 3. "Bushwhacked" 4. "Shindig" 5. "Safe" 6. "Our Mrs. Reynolds" 7. "Jaynestown" 8. "Out of Gas" 9. "Ariel" 10. "War Stories" 11. "Trash" 12. "The Message" 13. "Heart of Gold" 14. "Objects in Space"
Download, Rearrange, Watch and Repeat!
Kudos to Fox for finally hopping on board and bringing some definite classics to their selection. In summary, these episodes are out of order. Online you should be able to find a correct episode listing. After you rearrange them, watch and you'll be hooked and wanting more. Fortunately you can follow up with Serenity (or if you already have seen Serenity back peddle and watch these "prequels" that I believe to be far better then another famous trilogy of "prequels" regarding space...). I highly reccomend this series, not to mention the first one and half hour episode is only a couple bucks. Give it a try, it's the only thing in this store that has inspired me to post my first customer review that you have just finished reading... now.
