Great show - provides insight into what China today is like for individuals

I saw this last week on Discovery Channel. It's a fantastic show. Follows the lives of a few ordinary Chinese as they deal with life in today's China. Wide range of interesting people: a young girl trying to make a slot on the National Team to train for the Beijing Olympics, a migrant worker in Shanghai, a peasant in the Southwest of China, a policewoman in the interior, etc. The technical aspects (the filming, the editing, the "story") are great, but the really impressive thing is the window it gives into just how much effort individuals are willing to put into making their life better. I've been living in China for 5 years and this really crystalizes the sense of both opportunity and competition/sacrifice that is modern living here.

These documentaries are absolutely incredible in all aspects-- I was blown away by the production values, the cinematography, the narration, everything! I love how the focus is on ordinary individuals' lives-- it gives a personal feel to the documentaries. Highly, highly recommended. And it's only $1.99. The DVD costs $19.99.

Simply Breathtaking!

I have travelled around the world and its difficult to capture the spirit on film but after watching this series I was right there again. The picture quality, narration, angle of the camera's and visual effects are simply mind blowing. Looking forward to Australia!!!
