Description

Jared Padalecki (Gilmore Girls) and Jensen Ackles (Smallville) star in this thrill ride which takes viewers on a journey into the dark world of the unexplained. Bound by tragedy and blood to a dangerous, otherworldly mission, two brothers travel from the Colorado wilderness to the Nebraska farmlands and on to the isolated Wisconsin lakes, encountering creatures that most people believe only exist in folklore, superstition, and nightmares.

Great season, but bad download - changed music!

This opening season of "Supernatural" is wonderful -- scares, humor, brotherly love, and urban legends galore -- but if you buy this download, you won't actually get the show I know and love. The classic rock used in the soundtrack is an essential part of the show, and for some inexplicable reason (since all of the music appears on the DVD version of the season), the episodes of this season only here on iTunes have replaced key music cues with dreck. Fans expecting "Don't Fear the Reaper" during the episode "Faith" or what practically became the series' theme song, "Carry On Wayward Son" by Kansas, during the opening of "Salvation" are going to be sorely disappointed. In addition, the version of the pilot episode available through the download is three minutes shorter than the original pilot. The original, clocking in at 46:23, was too long to air in a standard 60-minute slot including the number of commercials required by the CW, so after it aired in its entirety the first time, it was cut down to fit the rebroadcast time. The version up here on iTunes is that shortened one. I'm hoping that iTunes will correct this situation and provide the true episodes, at which point I'd happily delete this review and resubmit one addressing just the wonderfulness that epitomizes this show. But without the original music cues, it's really not the same. You'd be better off buying the DVDs to get the full original episodes and all the extras.

Season 1 was great; unfortunately . . .

Season 1 of Supernatural is classic. That said, the iTunes versions have changed the music associated with a lot of scenes. In addition, scenes have been edited slightly - bits cut out here and there. Unless you're really jonezin' for Supernatural on your iPod, stick to the DVDs.

WHY IS THE AMAZING MUSIC CHANGED?

the only reason i'm giving this a good rating is because the show is still amazing. for it's superb acting, wonderful art direction, and incredible story telling. however, why change one of the best parts of one of the best shows on television? it's stupid, and not a good way to increase sales. whoever changed it needs to be fired immediately. there is a good chance i will not buy any of these episodes because they have been changed for the worse.
