When the teenage son of a New York City millionaire and his politically-connected wife is kidnapped, everyone is a suspect, including the members of his not-so-picture-perfect family. The lives of Manhattan millionaire Conrad Cain (Timothy Hutton) and his wife Ellie (Dana Delany) are upended when their teenage son, Leo, is kidnapped and his bodyguard left to die. The worried Conrad enlists the help of Knapp (Jeremy Sisto), an investigator with little regard for the law, even as FBI agent Latimer King postpones his retirement to pursue the case — only to discover a personal connection to its prime suspect. The search becomes increasingly desperate as time runs out and the options to guarantee Leo’s safety fade away. As Conrad’s shady past and Ellie’s powerful family connections are set on a collision course with Knapp’s painful history and King’s dogged determination to solve the case, Leo struggles to stay alive as his kidnappers try using him as leverage in a twisted scheme in which everyone is a suspect and every door conceals another secret waiting to be revealed.

Excellent, underrated fast-paced crime drama

I'm not sure why NBC cancelled this so quickly, but "Kidnapped" is really a pretty terrific show. Its intricate, unfolding plotlines and good pacing remind me in some ways of the films "Heat" or "Traffic". The acting is very good and the characters have a real depth in terms of personal identity which makes for a rich, fruitful tension throughout the season. To say much more would overdo it, but NBC had something good and failed when they pitted it against "House"'s timeslot; "Kidnapped" might've thrived on a network like TNT.

Very good show. Should've had more then 1 season!!!!
