My daughter is four and my son is two and they both love watching the Wild Kratts! I like that they do the real creatures and show real animals as well as the cartoons that explore animals more in depth than we would ever be able to in real life (like going inside a croc nest or swimming in the deep part of the ocean with gigantic whales). They present creatures in a way that is fun and engaging and the children are learning at the same time. My daughter's class was studying penguins and the teacher mentioned little squid is part of their diet and she raised her hand and told the class about the Giant and Colossal Squid that live in the deep parts of the ocean! I was helping that day and I couldn't have been more proud of her!!! Thank you, Kratt brothers and PBS!!!
Even parents can learn a few things from this one
My 3 and 5 year-old love Wild Kratts and have incorporated the Krattt brothers and their adventures in their imaginative playtime. I have actually learned a few things I didn't know about the animals featured in the episodes. I'm not a fan of the general format of the good guys in constant peril as an evil character tries to do them in, but that is the theme of most kids' movies, so I guess it's what works. My kids are captivated by it and learn a little about wildlife, too.
another great pbs show
I have a 3 year old son who absolutely loves this show. Even when we're watching other shows on pbs and an ad comes on for Wild Kratts, he runs around saying, "wild Kratts, Wild Kratts, on now, now, now!" What is so amazing about this is that he has a speech disorder and does not say many of his words very clearly....
Well, there is no doubt about what he is saying, and what he wants!
It is a great show for parents and kids to learn amazing animal facts together in a unique fun adventure program.
If you are familiar with the brothers' earlier show "Zaboomafoo", I enjoy this show much better. It is more adventure oriented, and their "superhero-like" technology allows them to investigate and learn more about their animal friends.
It is more action packed then their "stage like" presentation of the animals on the other show.
In a way this is more like "hidden" education while the kids think they are watching an action packed adventure show.
