A high-octane, action-packed superhero series about the epic adventures of earthbound teenager Maxwell McGrath and his out-of-this-world friend Steel. On his sixteenth birthday, Maxwell learns that he has the ability to generate TURBO ENERGY, the most powerful energy in the universe. While the energy gives Max incredible powers, he can't always control it. Fortunately he meets Steel, an intergalactic alien war machine, powered by Turbo Energy - which enables Max to take charge of his own power. Together Max and Steel defend the planet from all manner of mayhem, monsters and extraterrestrial invasion as the world's greatest new superhero, Max Steel!

Lots of potential

I had my doubts, lots of them. But I can't say I was not smiling through most of episode 1 of this new show. It's played pretty cheesy, mostly one trope and/or cliche after another. Lot's of pop culture references, largely to a point where it can be questioned how any of this is original. Yet, that seems to largely be the point of the series. Combining used up and done to death references and quotes in a new way that works.

Take the show with a grain of salt. Yes, you've seen or heard it before, but the execution is flawless. Nothing is new under the sun, but this show makes that point moot. Original (or at the very least clever and funny) combinations of content you've seen before.

The writers obviously have made this show where it structures dialogue and plot as a parody of itself. Taking Sci-Fi and Superhero genera material and paying homage to the source work. I've grabbed references in this first episode alluding to everything from Starwars, Halo, Ben 10, Generator Rex, Crysis, and even Prototype. That's just to start. The fact that it uses this stuff in a humorous, self deprecating way is what might just give this show a good edge. Lampshades and Subversions of tropes is the name of the game in this well done TV Show. I look forward to more!

This is a great new change to the old. Kids love it, plus its free so whose to get upset?! Just think about it, everything new is based on something old or already used like the new clothes trend of today!
