Good Show

I think this is one of the better shows that abc Family has. It has a lot of potential. Although I'm really surprised at how "adult" this show is for abc Family. I mean, underaged drinking, premarital sex, pornography, self gratification, etc. But I found it all really entertaining. I think the concept of the show is awesome. Here's a guy who hasn't been jaded by the world and gives everyone a whole new perspective on things. A perfect example is the scene with the rat traps. He questions why they kill the rats and doesn't understand why they kill them just because they don't want the rats in the house. Good stuff. Can't wait to see what they do with the show.

A Family Series with a Touch of a Bourne Identity \ Alias Kick

I admit that I was skeptical when I first saw previews of Kyle XY. But for those of you making commentary on the show based on a 30 second preview, or the commercials, download this show before you make comments. It’s free for heaven’s sake, what do you have to lose? Matt Dallas is innocent, charismatic, and sweetly charming in this pilot episode and I hope that the show gets picked up so we get to see where he takes the character, as well as watch him grow as an actor. Matt, course is the center of the show, with his lovely blue eyes, and his ability to express curiosity, fear, and happiness in a scrunch of the eyebrows, a hardness in his gaze or even a simple blink. But the Trager family doesn’t fall into the background either, they’re able to hold their own and keep you interested in them as well. Bruce Thomas and Marguerite MacIntyre as Mr. and Mrs. Trager seem to compliment one another as a balance of strength and tenderness – their chemistry together seemed genuine, unlike many of the TV show “husband and wife” pairings out there that just run sort of flat. Thomas and MacIntyre have that worn in-chemistry as though they’ve been working together for years, which was pleasantly surprising from a pilot. I also found myself liking the young son, Josh, it will be fun to watch him bond (or clash) with Kyle – plus it’s refreshing to see some good but not completely wretched teens on a family show. The only one that I have issues with is Lori, the teenage daughter. I hope they don’t keep her in the “rebellious party-girl” cliché for the whole show, it’d been nice to see a teenage character rise above that. All in all I really like the show and I think it has great future potential, I for one, am hoping that ABC Family continues with it.

Better than I could have guessed!

To be honest I thought that this show would be just as stupid as some of the other ABC Family fare. However since it was free I downloaded the pilot episode and watched it. Now I think I will be watching it throughout the summer. Not only does it hit on family situations that actually happen but it creates a mysterious backdrop through the use of a recurring character that appears from time to time. I hope that everyone will give this show a second look and not just base their thoughts on a 30 second air spot on television. Download the free pilot and be amazed!
