Only Appealing to Mulaney's stand-up newcomers
First off, I am a huge fan of John Mulaney. I own both his comedy albums and have gone to see him live as well. This show is basically a theatrical version of the same jokes from his stand-up comedy act. So I could see this show being appealing to those who have never sampled his comedy before, but to people familiar with his acts, it comes off as a bad rehash of his jokes...set to a laugh track. It feels like watching an 80's sitcom that doesn't know what it wants to be. I hope the show does find it's footing, as I would love to see Mulaney succeed. I'll hold out hope it improves as the show progresses.
Wow, thats Awful!
Barely got through this free pilot; and its awful. Maybe its because i’ve heard all his stand-up and turning that into a sit-com doesn’t really work.
Maybe people who haven’t heard or seen his stand-up will like this show, but its doubtful.
Too bad, he is a funny comedian, just not a very good actor.
Not going to last I feel.
He is not a good enough actor to be with others who have much talent it seems. I don't think this show will last.
