Fun, Simple Show
'Lipstick Jungle' doesn't pack the wit, style, and charm of 'Sex and the City.' However, it provides everything you would expect from a show called 'Lipstick Jungle.' It's fun, cute, and makes for good escapism for an hour. The premise is simple; three high powered women in New York navigate their careers and lives while sticking together. The three lead actresses share a believable chemistry which helped this show survive in it's first season. My critique of the show would be to concentrate less on their love lives and more on their careers, which would make this show stand out as it's own identity instead of being simply a 'Sex and the City' knock-off. Another effort that needs to be made is to give each lady more individuality and a style that makes each one stand out a bit more. With that said, it is a fun show and one I would recommend to those looking for a show to escape for an hour.
Lots of Fun
True, it's not SATC but just because it is the same author doesn't mean it is the same premise. So refreshing to see 3 beautiful women in successful positions. I look forward to Season 2! What a treat to see Brooke Shields back on TV. And to see Andrew McCarthy again!
Not SATC, but nothing could be...
Unless SATC came back on the air, nothing could really duplicate the feeling one gets from watching that show. But Lipstick Jungle does duplicate one thing- the friendship. These women have a closeness about them, and maybe not on the same level where they were together almost every moment, but it's there. The character of Victory Ford adds a mix to the trio by being the youngest, but bringing her own unique perspective...kind of like Samantha did on SATC, being the oldest in the group. It may not be for everyone, but this is certainly not a disappointing show.
