Based on the novels by Kerry Greenwood. Seen on public television. In1920s Melbourne, the Honorable Phryne Fisher (Essie Davis, Girl with a Pearl Earring) is a thoroughly modern woman operating in a mostly male world. The glamorous “lady detective” goes about her work with a pistol close at hand—and, more often than not, a male admirer even closer. To the dismay of Detective Inspector Jack Robinson (Nathan Page, The Secret Life of Us), Phryne’s investigations take her through back alleys, jazz clubs, and shady neighborhoods. Ignoring the dangers all around her, she glides through life determined to enjoy every moment. But beneath her devil-may-care attitude, Phryne hides ghosts from the past that continue to haunt her. Gorgeously costumed and evocatively shot, MISS FISHER'S MURDER MYSTERIES also stars Hugo Johnstone-Burt (Cloudstreet), Ashleigh Cummings (Tomorrow, When the War Began), Miriam Margolyes (Little Dorrit), and Nicholas Bell (Shine). Miranda Otto (The Lord of the Rings) guest stars.

Agatha Christie meets James Bond
Miss fishers murder mysteries is by far my favorite vintage murder mystery series, in books, television and movies. The cast is absolutely fantastic, the wardrobe, sets and classic inventions and especially automobiles from the era are unparalleled. Watch and you will not be disappointed. :) it's is as savvy as it is funny and deals with issues still relevant today. I only wish I could be half the lady detective miss fisher is :)
Phryne Fisher can do anything that James Bond can do except twice as good and in high heels!
If you are having Agent Peggy Carter withdrawal, rest assured Miss Fisher will fill the void. I LOVE this show! It’s a lot of charm, fun, and the fact that it takes place in the 20’s makes it even more endearing. Each episode goes about solving a crime. Even with the multiple story lines, each episode ends with a nice review of events in case you missed something.
