The newest Katalyst Films-MTV collaboration, Room 401, is a mind-blowing journey through the weird, absurd, and shocking world of illusion. Each episode sweeps unaware victims into the center of mini-horror movies that play out live in front of their eyes. From the reanimation of the dead, to chain-saw mishaps, to sinister sushi experiences, each episode will contain four "scares" sure to tingle your spine. Featuring some of the most talented, up-and-coming illusionists, Room 401 will make you scream, make you jump, and even make you laugh . . . uncomfortably. In this age of CGI and edit room after effects, Room 401 unfolds live. We don't manipulate the film. . . we manipulate your mind.

Better than people say
I am a professional full time magician. This show is put together by other magicians and illusionist. Everything is REALLY shot in real time. This is what it would look like if you were really there. Nothing is added or cut. Based on this, I think the show is great. It does lack depth, but as a quick prank, I think it's great. Not nearly as good as Scare Tactics, but still pretty good.
Aww c'mon critics, it's not that bad...
...i's exacly the same thing as that show Scare Tactics used to be except without Shannon Doherty as the host. Back when it was on the air, I ended up watched Scare Tactics one day by accident (couldn't find remote, too lazy to get up, lol) and ended up laughing my tush off ...they scare the living bananas out of some poor sucker by putting him/her in the middle of a carefully orchestrated freaky-deaky nightmere-ish situation, and just when they're about to lose it with fear, they'd tell them they were actually just being pranked. It sounds so mean, and usually I don't like things that are purposely mean, but this always seemed to be in good fun, with the "victim" ultimately laughing about how scared they were and how silly they feel for screaming like a girl or whatever. Anywhoo, that said...this is the same show. Only with a different name. Otherwise, carbon copy, pretty much. I'm not complainin' tho ... Scare Tactics is pretty much gone (it's only on like 1x a week on the Sci Fi Channel at 12:30 a.m or something) so I'm glad now I can tune in daily if I feel like it to watch some poor innocent kid wet their pants on national television. Hehe.
I seen this show on Mtv, so cool, disturbing, and funny @ the same time. I wouldn't buy the episodes tho. Try watching it on mtv 1st.
