Chart-topping Rayna James (Connie Britton) is a country legend who's had a career any singer would envy, though lately her popularity is starting to wane. Fans still line up to get her autograph, but she's not packing the arenas like she used to. Rayna's record label thinks a concert tour, opening for up-and-comer Juliette Barnes (Hayden Panettiere), the young and sexy future of country music, is just what Rayna needs. But scheming Juliette can't wait to steal Rayna's spotlight. Sharing a stage with that disrespectful, untalented, little vixen is the last thing Rayna wants to do, which sets up a power struggle for popularity. Could the undiscovered songwriting talent of Scarlett O'Connor (Clare Bowen) be the key to helping Rayna resurrect her career? Complicating matters, Rayna's wealthy but estranged father, Lamar Hampton (Powers Boothe), is a powerful force in business, Tennessee politics, and the lives of his two grown daughters. His drive for power results in a scheme to back Rayna's handsome husband, Teddy, in a run for Mayor of Nashville, against Rayna's wishes.

Nashville!!! So glad I got to see it before it airs :)
I was lucky enough to catch an early screening of Nashville through my university, and I will definitely be tuning in for more! The plot was exciting, although confusing at times, and I already find myself interested in the characters. Hayden Panettiere is great as a sexy, troubled new singer who is pretty much the opposite of Taylor Swift in personality. Connie Britton is also great as the kindhearted and conflicted country legend struggling to keep her career going. I don't want to give anything away, so you're just going to have to watch it for yourself when it airs!
Lots of drama, and lots of great music. And not just country music. Whether you like country, pop country, bluegrass, or just the sound of acoustic guitars, there are several original songs in the episode to enjoy. Look out for the duet at the end with Clare Bowen and Sam Palladio. It's haunting, beautiful, and just perfect. These two are crazy talented, and I hope we will be able to buy this and all the other songs on iTunes when the show airs!
Can't wait for the second episode! Go Nashville!
WOW. just wow.
I honestly don't understand the negative reviews on this page. The pilot absolutely blew me away; the show has everything you would want. Drama. Music. Comedy. Emotion. Fun. Connie Britton gives an outstanding performance as a struggling country star (perhaps even better than American Horror Story) and Hayden Panettiere gives a similarly brilliant performance as the 'new' and 'fresh' country pop star, who is not all she seems.
I am beyond happy that I discovered this series and that iTunes is giving it for free!

BUY. IT. NOW.
If you're dropping by to see what all the buzz is about, be sure to stick around until the end of the first episode as the strains of Scarlett's music are juxtaposed over Rayna gritting her teeth and standing by her man.
The writers have laid the groundwork for an excellent drama.
