Imaginitive and Visually Unique

For quite a while, Nickelodeon has tried and failed to come up with a new comedy-centric Nicktoon that feels like their classics from the 90's. Fortunately, they seem to have finally struck gold this year, first with Harvey Beaks and again with Pig Goat Banana Cricket.
While this show doesn't have relate-able stories and important life lessons like Harvey does, it makes up for that with a huge sense of imagination. In the first episode alone, we see a shopping cart that acts like a dog, a race of underwater cat people, a Frankenstein-style monster with a hamburger head, and a Barry While-esque "Love Comet." On top of that, the art style of the show--courtesy of co-creator and amazing illustrator Dave Cooper--is both stunningly detailed and a refreshing break from the simplistic art styles of most other cartoons these days. If I could compare this show to classic 90's Nicktoons, I'd say it mixes the manic and delightfully crude writing of Ren and Stimpy with a fun and detailed art style similar to Aaahh!!! Real Monsters.
In short, I'm impressed. Nickelodeon seems to be slowly but surely getting its old mojo back.

Not Bad

Hey Nick! You have a streak going on. You're getting better and better with your cartoons. Hopefully this show replaces Breadwinners. Along with Harvey Beaks, this show is great!

This is one of the best shows on Nick. I like Pig Goat Banana Cricket. One of my favorite shows are like Sanjay and Craig, Harvey Beaks, Breadwinners and last of all, Fairly Oddparents.
