Jurassic Park meets Torchwood and Doctor Who

Very interesting and entertaining first episode but I hope the storyline won't be limited to prehistoric creatures only. There are so many possibilities for a very interesting development of this TV Show, including time travel, aliens and hidden treasures but it alls depends on the imagination of the writers of this series. One thing is strange though: why do english SciFi TV Show writers/producers have such a fascination for time travel/time anomalies? Primeval could be the missing link between Torchwood and Doctor Who, I just hope that it isn't going to be "just another" SciFi show which lets the "heroes" fight creatures from prehistoric times only. Again: this show has potential, I just hope the authors don't ruin it. 4 stars only instead of 5 stars because the storyline isn't quite innovative(yet).

Great spin for the imaginative at heart

Do you refuse to believe that the past is finished? well, so does this show. With creatures returning from the Dinosaur age and stunning plays on the typical cast (dino obsessed kid, proffesor with a secret, reptile lassie, etc.) this show is not below par of the typical show of its type, the only thing that keeps it from five stars is that it IS only the typical type of show that it is. Theres only so many spins on dinos in real life that you can do, and Jurassic Park's already claimed one. This show plays off the "portal" idea, but does so rather well. The actings not bad, I'm not a movie conossuir, so it didn't bother me one bit that maybe it wasn't top notch, and the animation was believable enough. there's always a better for anything. The plot shows even more promise in that they won't stick solely to dinos, whch is the main downfall in my opinion of this type of show. It appears though, after one episode and one synopses of the next that the plot might get redundant unless they can think up a new swing to the "creature come to modern day, we fight/send back/do something about it" theme. hopefully later episodes will think up a creative twist, the plot witht he professor's wife seems like they might tye to create a plot line to rationalize or build the dino land around. If you're a dino fan, you'll be sure to get a kick out of it. If all you're looking for is the next great drama about who sally's gunna date next, then I might steer you away. If you keep and open mind and clear imagination, this show is sure to entertain. The prehistoric period knowlege thrown in as a bonus (no typical triasic, jurassic, cretatious here kiddies)

Great Show!!!

Primeval was such a shock. I'm not sure what I was expecting exactly, but I was thoroughly intrigued by this episode. The graphics were good and the storyline definitely caught my attention, I didn't want to stop watching it. In fact, if Itunes had other episodes I would have downloaded some immediately. I can't wait for more.
