James Roday plays the somewhat eccentric Shawn Spencer, a police consultant who solves crimes with powers of observation so acute that the police think he's psychic — or so he lets them think. With the reluctant assistance of his best friend Gus (Dule Hill), Shawn opens up a P.I. agency, Psych, and together they begin solving cases even the most seasoned detectives cannot crack.

Customer Reviews

Off to a good start...

I was pleasantly surprised. The premise of the show is pretty fresh: The main character, Shawn, has the unique ability to notice the smallest details when he walks into a room, watches TV, etc. He calls in a tip on a crime to the police after watching the evening news, and his information is so dead-on, that the cops label him a suspect in the crime. To avoid being arrested, Shawn convinces them that he's a psychic... Anyway, the actors who play the lead characters, Shawn and Gus, are very good. Great comedic timing. Performances are just right--nothing too over-the-top. Some of the other performances really need help, though. (In particular, the male cop who's always in Shawn's face really began to grate. After a while, I felt like "GEEZ, we GET it—you're a SERIOUS cop who tosses off cheesy 'cop show' lines, and you really REALLY don't like Shawn..." This guy really needs to play this part with a bit more subtlety. Or, if he's supposed to be a campy throwback to 70s cop shows, THAT needs to come across more...) Overall, it kind of has the feel of Monk with a bit of the off kilter humor of Moonlighting thrown in. I think if they fine tune this show, it could really be a winner.

Better than Monk

I love Monk, but I think the newest episodes are going downhill. I was watching this show, and I saw that it is very similar to the early episodes of Monk. I like how the things that he is studying glow, and I think its very clever and witty. A Must-See. Download NOW!

Definitely Worth Seeing!

I loved this show. Watch the pilot. It's free. Very intertaining. Full of humor, wit, and worth following through the season. I give it 5 stars for good tv.
