From Emmy Award-winning executive producers/writers Greg Daniels (The Office, King of the Hill) and Michael Schur (The Office, Saturday Night Live) comes a new comedy about a place where nothing always gets done . . . small town government. The documentary cameras follow Leslie Knope (Amy Poehler), a mid-level bureaucrat in the Parks and Recreation Dept. of Pawnee, Indiana. Leslie takes on what should be a fairly simple project: help nurse Ann Perkins (Rashida Jones) turn an abandoned construction pit into a community park. Leslie is alternately helped and undermined by her colleague Tom Haverford (Aziz Ansari), thwarted by her boss Ron Swanson (Nick Offerman) and aided by charismatic city planner Mark Brendanawicz (Paul Schneider). Leslie hopes that she will also inspire her uninterested college intern April (Aubrey Plaza) and April's whole generation—all the while moving one step closer to her ultimate goal: becoming the first female president of the United States

The documentary cameras follow Leslie Knope (Amy Poehler) a mid-level bureaucrat in the Parks and Recreation Department of Pawnee, Indiana. In an attempt to beautify her town Leslie takes on what should be a fairly simple project: help local nurse Ann Perkins (Rashida Jones) turn an abandoned construction pit into a community park. Leslie is alternately helped and undermined by her colleague, Tom Haverford (Aziz Ansari), who cheerfully exploits his government position for personal gain. She is also thwarted by her boss Ron Swanson (Nick Offerman) who is philosophically opposed to government in any form. Helping Leslie and Ann navigate the Pawnee bureaucracy is charismatic city planner Mark Brendanawicz (Paul Schneider), whose outlook has been soured by 15 years of public service. If they can pull it off, Leslie hopes that she also will have inspired her uninterested college intern April (Aubrey Plaza) and Aprils whole generation all the while moving one step closer to her ultimate goal: becoming the first female president of the United States.||21:33||$2.99||View in iTunes|

Ok.. I'm tired of people writing reviews saying "So unoriginal", "Knockoff of the office", and "They need new show ideas!". People.. you said it yourself. Same producers. The point was to make a show similar to the office. They weren't being lazy. They weren't trying to make a knockoff of their own show. It is it's own show. They know its the same. And Rashida Jones, is probably just a friend of them working on it. She was on the Office for a while and they probably said "Hey! We are making a similar show, want a part?" So please people. Quit being stupid. It's not a a rip off. They just wanted to make like a spin off type deal of the office. Its just a new formula. Instead of normal sitcom, its changed. Its like saying all sitcoms are knockoffs of one another. Its a good show. They pilot wasn't that great but some funny parts. And it looks like it will be a good show. I didn't the Office pilot as much as most others. We'll see how it goes, but so far I like it. And Amy Poehler is always good.
This show is great! I'm usually not a fan of shows shot in "mockumentary" style and I'm not a very big fan of "The Office" either, but I love this show! I watched the pilot episode on TV last night and instantly fell in love with it. Amy Poehler delivers over and over again and this show is no exception. I hope this show will be around for a long time.
This was an awesome first episode, this shows you how funny this show can and will be. You can definately tell this came from the producers of the office......Awesome show!!
