Steven Universe, Vol. 1HDTV-PG

Open iTunes to preview or buy TV shows.

This first volume of Steven Universe is all about discovery. Steven is still an over-enthusiastic boy and more often than not, that gets in the way of his progress towards becoming a Gem. However, little by little, episode by episode he learns more about the Crystal Gems, their secrets, their history and the full extent of their powers. (Shape shifting anyone?) But of course, Steven being Steven, sometimes this new information leads to some Steven-y situations that no one, not even the Gems saw coming.

Fantastic show!

From the character design to the plot points this show is doing EVERYTHING right. While Steven is the “main” character his supporting cast of the other Gem’s could easily hold their own show.

The combination of cell shading and water color backgrounds is flawless and isn’t distracting.

If you love shows like Adventure Time or Gravity Falls, you’ll love Steven Universe. A light hearted show with a deep and rich background/history is great for kids and the parents who watch with their children.

Believe in Steven

Show creator Rebecca Sugar is so awesome!

I didn't really know what to think of this show at first. After watching a marathon on CN I was hooked. I love how subtle the emotions and beauty is on this how. At fist the show looks stupid but when you just watch it and accept it for what it is, and what its leading up to... its beautiful. In the Tiger Millionare episode I began to feel for Amethyst and Steven and the ending made me smile harder at a TV show than I have in a long time. Bravo to the cast and crew and big thanks to CN for adding this fantastic show to the line up.
