Swamp People, Season 1TV-14Closed Captioning

Open iTunes to preview or buy TV shows.

At the outer edge of America, lies the nation's largest swamp — a hidden world where nature rules and man fights back. The way of life has changed little since Cajuns first came here in the mid-1700's, and the lost tribe who dwell here today share the fierce independence of those early pioneers, living off the land as they did. In this new series HISTORY chronicles the swampers busiest time of year — alligator season — and the risks undertaken by the unique group that makes the swamp their home. At its core, this is a story of the American spirit — these people experience first-hand how Mother Nature is a formidable foe, and only those with survival instincts honed over several generations can prevail. Episodes will follow characters like Troy Landry and Junior Edwards as they master the complex world of the swamp, using survival instincts honed over many generations.

Shows the Cajun spirit

The people who are on this show may not speak the King's English or perfect French, but they work hard for what they have and would give it to you in a minute if you needed it. They don't rely on the government for assistance. They live off of the land and embody the American way of life. I feel blessed to consider myself a Cajun.

Really Unique

thank you for bringing us this show - it is an opportunity to get a glimpse at a very unique way of life - and I love the Cajun accent.

Swamp People

I am from South Louisiana and this truly depicts the Cajun life style... Hard working and determined to make a living however they can... This is truly a breath of fresh air in reality television... Real Southern Americans making ends meet by the seat of their pants without government assistance... Love it...
