Description

In the fourth season of The O.C., high school seems like a distant memory for the young graduates, who have been thrust into adulthood after the death of their beloved friend Marissa. The Cohens struggle to keep Ryan focused on the future, fighting the forces that threaten to pull him back into his old life. Having left Orange County, Summer attends Brown University in Rhode Island, where she has reinvented herself as a left-leaning, tree-hugging activist. And, lonely in Orange County, Seth works at a local comic book store.

Great Show; Great Season

It seemed like everyone I knew watched the O.C. the first year it was on. It's become steadily less popular, and I think I'm the only person in my social circle who stuck with it until the bitter end. And if you're one of those people who loved the first year and jumped ship sometime after then, I can confidently say that you should download the entire fourth season. I don't know that anything can match the genius of that first half-season, but this year came close. The writers remembered that this show is supposed to be funny, and the emotional stakes seemed real for the first time in ages. You'll remember why you ever cared about Ryan, Seth, Summer, Sandy, Kirsten and Julie Cooper. You'll come to care about some new characters. You'll be sad that the show has ended and happy that it's ended on such a high note. Trust me. Just watch it. You won't be sorry.

The Television Show of this Generation

The O.C. truly came to define the high school, teenage angst that so many people can relate to. The show featured all aspect of life, from pregnancy scares to natural disasters. The show was often criticized for its writing in the middle seasons, and the ratings began to slunk. However, its core fan base stayed true. The final season of the O.C. gained great momentum; many called it the best written season of the show. Its cancellation was premature; it really had the strength to continue on if it had not been for the unfortunate time slot FOX dug the channel into. Regardless, the O.C. is an amazing television show that it is impossible not to become entirely engaged in. I highly suggest buying this season, as well as the previous seasons, and falling in love with the characters like so many have.
