Get ready for another season with the good old Braverman family!

Parenthood has come a long way since its debut in March 2010. They spent their first few seasons fighting to prove themselves, never knowing for sure if they were going to make it, but after a fantastic Season 4, people are really starting to notice how truly good it is. Though I knew it was the type of series I would love, it didn't seem like anything special when I first watched the pilot, but it's one of those shows that needs time to build their audience, and I'm so happy that Parenthood was given that time. There are so many things I love about it, but I'll try to keep this brief. Basically, the show has succeeded for two major reasons. First of all, they have an amazing cast. Lauren Graham was the main draw for me at first, but they truly have assembled a gifted group of actors (including the kids) with personalities and an ability to tell their stories, which isn't as easy as it might sound. The characters are all colorful and unique, and even when you disagree with them, you love them because they're so honest and real. The second reason this show has come so far is the way it follows its characters. The writers have a knack for capitalizing on those little moments and bringing them together to create something that's entertaining, but still reflective of real life. If you've watched any of the episodes, then you probably know the little moments I'm talking about--like when one person's health crisis comes out of nowhere and impacts the entire family. Struggling to raise your kids and do right by them in a society where there's always someone who thinks you're doing it wrong. Being part of a big, loud, tight-knit extended family where it sometimes feels like the only way to get a word in is by talking over everyone else. The writers and actors do their jobs well by simply showing us a real family, throwing in humor as much as possible, and keeping it real above all else. Very diverse parenting styles, attitudes, and personalities are scattered among the kids and adults, so there's a little something for everyone, and all can relate on some level, if only because you know what it's like having a family such as this (or perhaps that you wish your family was more like this). I'm so excited that this show has been given a full 22-episode order for the first time since Season 2. They've maintained a tradition of getting better and stronger with each season, and now is their chance to really prove that they can keep it up. It's going to be a fun year with the Bravermans, and I can't wait for the new episodes to start!

Realistic and Amazing All At Once

I have been watching the Braverman family now since the show's inception. Not only is it just really good, but as I watch the show I find so many elements of the Braverman family in my own. If you are looking for an honest show that deals with the small and large issues of the modern family, then this is a show for you to watch. I really enjoy watching the accurate representation of a combat veteran and his attempt to reintegrate with the Braverman's portrayal is spot on and I can attest since I myself am a combat veteran who has completed 3 tours of duty in Iraq and Korea.

Great show - watch it today!
