In The Riches, Eddie Izzard and Minnie Driver play Wayne and Dahlia Malloy. The Malloys, along with their three children, go on the run after stealing money from the extended family bank. An unfortunate accident provides a great opportunity when they obtain the identity of a well-to-do 'normal family', becoming 'Doug and Cherien Rich.' Seduced by the idea of a bigger life for themselves, and armed with the keys to a new house in a posh neighborhood, they soon find that suburban life is more twisted and challenging than any of their previous stings.

I've been a big fan of Eddie Izzard for several years now. He is a simply brilliant comedian. The transition to Television, in my opinion is an amazing move. Some comedians break into a much larger career by going from the stage to movies, but in this instance, I think Eddie Izzard made the right move. The Riches is an amazing story. Its something that, I frankly, can't say that I have seen on television... ever. The story is well written, with a great deal of backstory, that leaves the viewer wanting to know what happened in the past, what's going on in the present and what will happen in the future. If you are looking for something that is completely out of the "24", "Lost" and Reality Show realm, sit down and spend an hour with the Riches, you won't be disappointed.
The Riches has amazing potential. The pilot episode has already shown that the show has both a surprisingly well thought out and involving dramatic storyline and a rather funny sense of humor. While in the pilot episode the drama almost entirely overshadowed the comedy I feel certain that the comedy will eventually take over (after all Eddie Izzard is a comedian.) Also I enjoyed the inclusion of a transvestite son into the character list, look for him to have a larger role as the show goes on (anyone who is familiar with Mr.Izzards standup will understand why.)
Thank you FX!
First of all, don't believe the reviews of someone who has only seen the preview of the show. They cannot possibly know what they're talking about, because the previews do not even begin to skim the surface of this amazing new show. I've been a long time fan of both Eddie Izzard and Minnie Driver, and this show in itself is something I know will proove very rewarding for them both. FX has turned out some groundbreaking programs over the past five years and the Riches is no different. If you're looking for something that is unlike anything else on television. It is dark and funny, touching and intriguing. I can't wait until next week!! My pallette has been refreshed!!
