This series is a must!
This series has inspire many shows of the past decade as we know like the X-files, Millennium, and now in production The Dresden Files which aires on Scifi late 2007. This was the prime late night series worth staying up for. Darren McGavin & Simon Oakland great chemistry, and Richard Matheson flair on terror.
Kolchak's the MAN!
Outstanding in it's "campiness" and an inspiration for The X Files, this show was a Friday night staple when I was too young to drive. I loved to watch Carl K. fight the system and go after the truth. Now a days it is fun to watch just to remember how silly we were, but man what a good time! Good to share with your kids since the "violence" is the old school implied type. Good buy.
This Show Kept me up All my Childhood nites & some of my Adult ones too!!
The one I remember haunting me was the one about the Doppleganger. I don't know the title, but I do remember the fella looking down from a window and skooting back and forth with the most sinister look on his face....oooh, I get chills now! Carl and his boss add a ton of humor amongst the terror, but it doesn't matter, your bound to see someone to help cure you of your fear of closing your eyes! The actors who were these "monsters" were great! The Ripper, Vampire and others will keep you up @ night too! I promise! ...wait, was that a noise? Is someone in the shadows? Are you sure you are alone in the dark?
