This is by far one of the best new shows on television. The main character's storyline is heavily influenced by Hillary Clinton but is very different from her. The writing is excellent and my only complaint is that the show is a miniseries instead of a whole season! Otherwise, bravo!
Awesome by any other words
The West Wing with a bad to the bone women at the helm. If you are the type of American Patriot that teared up from the West Wing, this will leave ypou elated.
Refreshing, Timely, Very Entertaining
Why compare this at all to West Wing or other now defunct political shows? Those shows are in the past. This show takes the topics of this time and puts them up front - like homosexuality, family politics in a loving and diverse family, Iran, etc., not to mention the role of journalism, its lack of ethics and tricky dealings. A Free press is the protection of democracy - not a tell all expose or manipulative story making machine. Political Animals shows a broader view of Journalism and if one chooses one can see how we all may be manipulated by it - and get smarter and fulfill our own roles of responsibly building an opinion based on facts - which, admittedly, may be hard to find - but we are at the mercy of many kinds of opportunists if we do not do this - and we give away our freedoms and our minds to manipulative people, systems and parties if we do not do our own due diligence.
These characterizations are more fully fleshed than past political shows and perfectly fit our times - all the roles are strong, vibrant and realistic. I'll be happy to watch more.
