In the ninth and final season, Frankie and Mike Heck had hoped to find themselves with an emptier nest, allowing them to cut back on their parental duties, but with Axl now back at home with Brick, they find that hope quickly fading. Recently graduated, Axl returns home from Europe with a new, chill Euro look on life. Although Mike still wants him to get a job, he’s getting serious with Lexie – prompting the dreaded meeting of their families. Meanwhile, Sue and her neighbor, Sean Donahue will have to work out their unrequited feelings for each other. And Brick decides to break up with his quirky girlfriend Cindy, so that he’s not tied down and can finally be more popular. But, being a Heck, things probably won’t go quite as smoothly as he’d like. It’s time to say farewell to this average – yes, most definitely average – family.

The final season of one of the most underrated shows on televison.
You probably can't believe its been nine years since The Middle first premiered on TV - I know! I can't believe it either! But this, the ninth season is to be the final act of one of the most underrated shows on television.
Over the near-decade on our screens, The Middle has consistently delievered the goods - it has made me laugh out loud, touched my heart, but probably most importantly, the writing has always been on point and the characters have always been very relatable.
This is one of those shows that make you feel like you're part of their family and if not, that you want be part of it. It shows you that it's okay to be working-class, struggle to pay the bills, raise the kids and put food on the table - that's normal.
It's a show that has always been close to my heart and that I will miss dearly when it's gone.

Season 9..what a shame
especially episode 12, what a disgrace of an episode. From the sudden gay in your face situation, I’m not gay bashing, to the recent mood of family disfunction and separation. Just sad to see a family show no longer family friendly. Where are the morals and happy endings. What a shame.
