Calling all foodies…it's time to salivate! Top Chef Masters, is a spin-off series of the Emmy- and James Beard Award-winning No. 1 food show on cable, Top Chef. The judges' table has finally turned — see what happens when these top chefs are now on the other side. Top Chef Masters pits 24 world-renowned chefs against each other in the tried and true format of Top Chef. In each episode, money will be at stake for the chefs, with the winners of eliminations being awarded cash donations for their charities. The first six episodes consist of four chefs competing against each other to name one winner. These six winners will meet up for the final four weeks. Each week one chef is eliminated until the finale where one winner is crowned Top Chef Master. The winning chef will receive $100,000 for the charity of their choice. Top Chef Masters will feature guest stars and judges Neil Patrick Harris, Zooey Deschanel, Lost writers and executive producers Carlton Cuse and Damon Lindelof, Flipping Out's Jeff Lewis, and for the first time, all past Top Chef winners will be together during an episode. The series will also showcase "chef'testant" fan favorites as well as appearances by Top Chef’s Tom Colicchio, Padma Lakshmi and Gail Simmons.

This show is done well, simply put. The cast of characters are all chefs of great repute and they are given tricky settings in which to cook their best. It's great. The only thing that seems amiss is the host of the show. I don't recall her name, but she comes across as being really fake. She's no Padma. There's a balance of tough love and love of eating good food that Padma puts out that totally works. This gal hasn't shown that ... yet.

Better than the original!

I love Top Chef Masters because it shows some great cooking, with chefs I know or have heard of, and they focus on the food, not pointless drama! The host is not so good, which keeps me from giving this 5 stars-- but everything else on this show is awesome!

Winning me over

As a huge Top Chef fan, I watched ep 1 and thought it was a little boring, but after watching ep 2 I think I might be hooked; somehow the politeness off it all is offset by the giant reputations of the chefs entering into competition for the first time since becoming the established, accomplished masters of the kitchen that they're used to being. If the talent level stays this high, I'm in.
