A new comedy series from executive producer/writer Liz Meriwether (No Strings Attached), New Girl features a young ensemble cast that takes a fresh look at friendship.
After a bad break-up, Jess Day (Zooey Deschanel) needs a new place to live. An online search leads her to a great loft... and three single guys she's never met before.
Nick (Jake Johnson), a law school dropout turned bartender, is the most grounded... and the most jaded. Schmidt (Max Greenfield) is a hustling young professional who’s pretty proud of his own abs. Winston (Lamorne Morris), is an intensely competitive former athlete who doesn’t know what to do next. Jess also meets Coach (guest star Damon Wayans Jr.), a personal trainer with a bit of an anger problem. Rounding out the group is Jess’ childhood best friend, Cece (Hannah Simone), a model with a killer deadpan. The fivesome realize they need each other more than they thought they would and end up forming a charmingly dysfunctional – or strangely functional – family.

best new show!!
Wow...The pilot was amazing!!! I am so excited for this show! I really like the characters and it was really funny! Now heres to hoping that it doesn't get canceled like everything other new show I like seems to! Great Job Fox!
New Girl has time of life
For some reason, whenever Zooey Deschanel opens her mouth you never quite know what's going to come out. And this is true in just about anything you could see her in. She embodies quirk-perk. For this reason, she needs an environment where she can be the focus and be surrounded by some slightly less quirky characters less there be chaos. 'The Coach', 'The Douche', and 'The Nice Guy' do a pretty reasonable job of filling that part without being uninteresting or boring. The humor, for the most part, is well thought and doesn't feel forced -- TGFNLT (Thank God For No Laugh Track). Pilot has good chemistry and hopefully this should develop over time. I really like the 24p filmed-look, the use of locations, color, lighting and editing: it's just enough to not be stale.
Let's hope that the New Girl gets to hang around long enough so we can hear her sing some more.
excellent strategy putting this online before the premiere. great new show, looking forward to the season
