Warehouse pilot - so far so good
Warehouse 13 in a nutshell: think MIB + Indiana Jones with a splash of steampunk. You have the team of contrasting personalities who are hunting down and containing an unusual situation. You have the collection and storage of rare mystical artifacts. And for the steampunk you have the inventions by the likes of Tesla and Edison (check out the keyboard on the computer too) The tone is light and humorous although not to the same extent as Eureka (another SyFy series - it's good, check it out) You have a general sense of the characters (I love Mrs.Franklin - As a black woman it's nice to see a similar face for once and she's a mysterious heavy - cool) I look forward to future episodes. One thing that bothers me...why doesn't the warehouse have some built in high speed transport system if it's so huge?
Great concept, good pilot- slightly addictive
I saw this as a free download and thought, sure, why not? After going through the pilot, I've come away thoroughly impressed. It combines the usual (government agents/super natural happenings) with the unusual (good special effects for a tv show, wacky and decently well developed characters leaving room for more, quirky humor) with the flat out wacky (some cool gadgets reminiscent of ghost busters and MIB). If you're in the mood for a show that is everything but ordinary, give this a try. The pilot at this point in time is free, so there isn't much to lose.
High concept! Can't wait to see where it goes.
I can see the pitch - "What goes on at that warehouse at the end of 'Raiders of the Lost Ark?'" Some excellent characters (I love Saul Rubinek in anything, and I've missed CCH Pounder since "The Shield" wrapped) and the potential for some cool "X-Files"-style stories. I love me a little paranoia, and this has it. Looking forward to the next episodes...
