This is a very interesting video, beautiful in a way yet at times a little overwhelming. There are so many details and little things in the background that you find yourself paying more attention to the Video and missing parts of the song. Or even Frequently pausing it to find the details in the vignettes shown within the video.
I also find myself questioning how much of this video comes from the mind of Beck and how much comes from the mind of Charlotte Gainsbourg. Beck certainly has his unusual moments but at the same time you can definitely feel the influence of French Avant-Garde Culture, a bit of Dada perhaps? Maybe interlacing a little absurdity into the aspects of real life that are truly absurd. I don’t’ know, and it could be foolish to try and deconstruct this video. Perhaps it’s best to just simply enjoy it… time and time again.
Either way, this is a great collaboration and the video worked, I’m definitely picking up the album when it comes out. Congrats to Itunes for making a good choice this week instead of just more pop tarts.
This is actually a really nice video :) Seeing as how iTunes hasn't released anything free lately that is actually decent :)
Thanks for this
