Kitten!

AHHHHH I HAVE HEARD "LIKE A STRANGER" AND UGH... SOOO 80s AND MADONNA AND I LOVE IT I LOVE KITTEN merp. Id give 100 stars if i could.

KITTEN IS AMAZING!!!!!

KITTEN is definitely a group to watch. They have great energy on stage, and are a bunch of awesome people, not to mention the fact that they are so nice, and take the time to meet their fans. THEY"RE AMAZING

Getting concerned. It's more Pop and less edgey

I discovered Kitten last year with their classic 'Japanese Eyes'. This band was unashamed about their early 80's New Wave influence. Even the video was made to look like it was shot in 1982, and I loved it! I purchased both of their EP's, and found a lot to love. Chloe has a spunky attitude, and is the Annabella Lwin for the current generation, right down to the hair. I was very excited by their very authentic early 80's sound, and was looking forward to anything new to arrive by Kitten.

Well, here is the latest offering, and I'm a bit concerned. It's a bit less New Wave and becoming more Pop. Why do people always look for the brass ring of mass popularity? 'Like a Stranger' has a great chorus, but I've been cringing at the reviews that are comparing it to Madonna of old. I would much rather her move towards Siouxsie Sioux than crap like Madonna, or even talentless, best forgotten "artists" like Samantha Fox. And I even sense a little, dare I say it... Prince. That concern is added to when I see they've been covering 'Purple Rain' in recent shows. Oh dear...

Like a Stranger is not a bad EP, but the sound is not as stricking. 'Yesterday' is a wispy song that passes with little impact. 'I'll Be Your Girl' is similar background music. 'Doubt' has great energy, but is also approaching chart geared fodder from 30 years ago. And who's the guy doing vocals? For those who remember an obscure band called Modern Eon from 1981, these male vocals are identical. Kinda cool, considering the mundane lyrics. 'Grafitti Soul' is the highlight for me. A strong, energetic song that reminds me of the good ole' days of Kitten, which was just last year. 'King of Kings is long and tedious, and that's about it.

So I have to admit that my enthusiasm about Kitten's imminent debut album is now a bit lessened. I just don't need them becoming another forgettable Pop band, despite their 80's leanings. C'mon Chloe, dig out some old Altered Images, Missing Persons, and Siouxsie and the Banshees, and find some quality inspiration. Leave Madonna and Prince alone. It's been 20 years since I've been excited about music, so I'd hate to have it be little more than a fleeting blip.

Fronted by dynamic lead singer Chloe Chaidez, the Los Angeles-based four-piece Kitten make '80s post-punk-influenced dance-rock. The daughter of former Thee Undertakers drummer Mike Chaidez, Chloe grew up listening to a mix of punk and '80s new wave bands like the Go-Go's, the Motels, and Siouxsie and the Banshees. A precocious adolescent, Chaidez formed her first group, the cover band Wild Youth, at age ten. Three years later, she had formed Kitten, and with producer/manager Chad Anderson began...
