Worth it!!

Had 205GB of system files blocking up my HD. Found the problem was 4 back up files from Outlook which this app picked up. Problem solved.

Not really sure how it works

The app works fast and looks really cool. But I thought I'll be given only unnecessary files that I can delete. Instead it gives me all my folders and I need to choose what I can and cannot delete - which is a little scary as I don't know which files I can actually delete.

Developer Response ,

Thanks for your feedback. You're right that DaisyDisk doesn't make the final decision what files to delete for you. Instead, it provides you with the visual information which files are the biggest, so that you can consider deleting them, and thereby very quickly regain a lot of disk space. You typically delete only the files that you recognize as being your own, so that you don't have to worry about deleting system files (and DaisyDisk additionally protects system-critical files). Typically, your own files are the biggest, so you should have no problem in identifying them. In some rare cases you may see some system files or caches suspiciously big, then you can ask our support or google whether it's safe to delete them. There are other apps in the market that automatically delete all "junk" files from your Mac, but that supposed "junk" is not necessarily big, and will be quickly recreated (e.g. caches), so the efficiency of such apps is much smaller compared to DaisyDisk's approach. It may not be what you expected, but I'd suggest to give it a try and you'll find it easy and efficient. Feel free to email our support if you have questions.
