Really sad that the free iMovie has already been updated to accept the files off the iPhone 8 and GoPro Hero 6 but the paid professional version is so far behind with no update in site?

Final Cut Pro X

The Fruit Company

The new magnetic timeline make things so much easier compared to Express. No need to re align the clips. They snap together automatically. No fiddle. Importing is a joy compared to final cut express. No more log and transfer necessary. FCPro also makes automatic folders with event details like face and number of person recognition. The source files can be saved on an external hard drive (Western Digital My Book). Firewire or better connection is advisable. FCP X is easy on all import devices. I use iMac 21, Panasonic ™ 900, Canon Eos D7, Leica D-Lux and iPad. Interlocks the file well via export to my website. Allows to set frame rate, size and quality. The motion stabilization is a great feature. Corrects shaky hands after filming. Color correction can be done in the program. R2500 is steep, but well worth the money.

I love Final Cut Pro X

I really love Final Cut X! I have edited for broadcasters for almost 20 years, I have worked on all the well known NLE’s, and still know how to, but absolutely prefer Final Cut X. It is screaming fast! I admit it is different, well, very different to FCP7, and I am happy about that. It taught me a huge amount, but more specifically, I learned that metadata is very important, it makes life so much easier with FCPX. The benefits are plentiful, but overall, I would say the freedom, ease of editing and the almost no render time, is a great plus. My advise is to take time and learn the basics, learn the keyboard shortcuts, and be patient, embrace the magnetic timeline is a great feature. Final Cut Pro X is a game changer for me. Dig in and enjoy! It will change the way you think about editing, for the better.
