South Africa’s Miss Pru is best known for her perfectly curated posse cuts and street anthems. Born Prudence Sebalo in the Vaal Triangle in 1985, Miss Pru started DJing in 2009 when she enrolled in DJ Zinhle’s Fuse Academy and later became Zinhle’s protegee. After spending a few years on radio, Miss Pru signed to Ambitiouz Entertainment in 2015, a move that catapulted her career by allowing her to produce and release her own music. On her breakout record, 2016’s “Ameni”, she teamed up with then-labelmates Sjava, Emtee, Saudi, A-Reece, Fifi Cooper and B3nchMarq for a trap hit infused with modern African music, a formula she would also employ on her subsequent singles, “Ugesi” and “Phumelela”. For 2020’s “Price to Pay” and 2021’s “Chillisi”, Miss Pru collaborated with the label’s new collection of artists, including Blaq Diamond and Malome Vector.
